Optimal Health and your Nervous System

Your health is something natural. You have it. The creator designed you so that somehow your body can turn a peanut butter and jelly sandwich into its cells and tissues. Your body is also designed to heal a wound, rebuild itself, fight off an infection. Scientists observe that life is intelligent, responding appropriately to changes both inside and out.

Your nerve system is the one in charge of all of that. Of the trillion cells that make up your body, one out of every 15 cells is a nerve cell, whose job it is to carry information that senses and controls and coordinates all of life's functions. It is most crucial that your nerve system function properly, and have no interference to its electrical signals.

Certain things are needed for a healthy nerve system: Adequate rest and sleep, exercise, proper nutrition including supplements like minerals for your blood, and adjustments to ensure that your nerve signals are getting transmitted properly. Just like a car needs to be serviced periodically to ensure proper functioning, so does your nervous system.

Subluxation is the chiropractic word for the nerve transmission malfunctions that occur when the joints of the spine (and other joints) are displaced The damage often occurs in the soft tissues (ligaments, cartilage and spinal discs). The result is a lack of health, also known as ‘dis - ease’. The body is no longer operating efficiently. Eventually severe pain and disease ensues. All this occurs due to your body's inability to transmit healthy nerve signals.

You have probably subluxated your spine many times in your life. Falls, accidents, improper posture, sports injuries and lifting improperly are a few ways that a spine can get subluxated. Some infants begin their life sick as a result of subluxations caused from the pressures of the birth process itself.

Subluxations are caused not only by trauma. Emotional stress, chemical, dietary, and organ aggravations result in nerve malfunctions and subluxation. Some subluxations are true pinched nerves (especially spinal ones). Others are nerve interference’s to the many nerves within and around joints ("proprioceptive nerves") that carry vital signals to and from the brain.

The first ill-effect one notices is weakness or tightness and spasm of muscles adjacent to or served by those nerves which are subluxated. Inflammation, pain and numbness are other typical responses. Subluxation are also known to cause changes in the blood flow to organs and other body parts, because all arteries are controlled by correct nerve signals.

To understand this important point, look at a light circuit which includes power, a main circuit breaker, a light switch and a light bulb. The nerve system is both the main circuit breaker and the light switch, the blood is the electricity in the wire, and the light bulb is a biceps muscle or organ (kidney).

no connection, no power

The nerve systems controls when the biceps muscle will contract and how much blood oxygen gets to the biceps muscle to burn as fuel.

Poor nerve control of organs results in their breakdown, and failure causing numerous diagnosed illnesses, many whose causes are "unknown" to medical practitioners.

When you hear our patients talk about their severe and chronic illnesses that were cured with effective chiropractic care it doesn’t surprise us:

Headaches

Throat conditions

Bronchitis

Colitis

Constipation

Migraines

Liver abnormalities

Sciatica

Depression

Asthma

Eye & ear disorders

Lung disease

Immune deficiency

Numbness

and many others.

Neck pain

Shoulder bursitis

Arm and elbow pain

Gall bladder trouble

Urinary tract disorders

Thyroid illness

TMJ (Jaw) pain

Hand or wrist pain

Digestive disorders

Chronic female pain

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

You can understand the dangerous effects of subluxation's interference to nerve control and communication, resulting in the disruption of health.

Degeneration of health takes place in different stages.

Uncorrected spinal misalignments result in loss of normal spinal curves, causing nerve irritation. Pain and other symptoms start in this Phase. This is stage 1 of degeneration.

Stage 2 Degeneration occurs when years of uncorrected misalignements (subluxations) cause calcium to accumulate in spinal joints. Eventually large bone spurs form on the spinal column and represent the initial process of pathological joint fusion. Motion worsens; spinal discs are narrowing, degenerating and slowly dying. This is the phase of degeneration also known as "arthritis".

Stage 3 occurs as degeneration worsens and the spine moves toward permanent joint fusion. Chronic health failure often accompanies this phase.

Detecting the location and specifics of your subluxations is the job of a Doctor of Chiropractic. Using Applied Kinesiology, the chiropractic specialty which developed muscle-testing as a diagnostic method, our doctors can identify your subluxations accurately. X-rays and other testing methods are also utilized to provide valuable information on your nerve and organ function.

The correct application of precise chiropractic adjustments, is the method of correction of your subluxations in which the spinal (and other) joints are manually restored to improved motion and position.

The fact regarding restoring health is that the more chronic and advanced the problem is, more adjustments must be made. The process could be compared to straightening teeth, as it requires the correct amount of time and treatment. Follow-through to complete the corrective phase of treatment is the best course of action.

When you are fully aware of the facts of subluxation degeneration, doing an incomplete or temporary fix would not make sense.

When the most advanced chiropractic methods are coupled with nutritional expertise as we do in our clinic, the stupendous results, and many "miracle" cases are explainable. When you talk to our many patients of their health turnarounds, your understanding of subluxation is a conceptual key.

Chiropractic has a wealth of methods and styles. It is always evolving and developing. It is a major treat when a new method arrives that solves health problems better and faster. From the early days of "rack and crack", through the advanced approaches of muscle testing, chiropractic continues to progress.

Exciting developments in the last two years, have brought an advanced technique, called Zindler C.M.R.T. still little-known by most doctors, to solve the toughest pain and nerve problems yet.

Proper nutrition is an essential part of a properly functioning nervous system. In fact calcium, which is widely known as an important component for strong bones, is also integral to proper nerve impulse transmission. Are You Taking The Right Kind Of Calcium?
