Water & your health

Are you drinking enough water? You might think that by adding up the cup of coffee you drink in the morning, the big gulp of coke at lunch, and iced tea at dinner, you could claim to drink enough.

But since most of us don't drink 8 glasses or more of water per day we are clogging up our bodies with toxins! ( Did you know that we need 2 cups of water to help the liver flush out the caffeine from our morning coffee?)

Most people don't understand the importance of water for general health and vitality. In fact, Dr. Ross Anderson, world renown authority on auto-intoxication and parasitic infection, lists auto-intoxication at the top of the list of reasons why we are diseased and stay dis-eased. Auto-intoxication is the body re-poisoning itself with its own toxic waste. "Inadequate intake of water and prolonged transit time of fecal material add to the toxic burden."

Water is the most essential nutrient and primary body fluid for human life. The body composition of water makes up 60% in males and 50% in females, 40% in obese individuals and up to 70% in athletic individuals.

The primary function of water is to act as a strong solvent. Water carries many invisible ingredients: minerals, oxygen, nutrients, waste products, pollutants, etc. Did you know that blood, by design, is 90% water?

We should drink 8 oz. Of water for every 10 pounds of body weight daily. That’s 8 cups for a 100 pound person.

Drinking enough water becomes more and more important with age. Many people, especially the elderly, do not consume and retain enough of it for good health and long life. In fact, the single most consistent "biomarker" of aging is intercellular dehydration. As you mature, your body retains less cellular water; 10 to 15% less by age 65. Soft skin, clear eyes, lustrous hair, at any age, are all a result of proper fluid intake.

Did you know that we lose a glass of water while we sleep!

Bottom line is we need to drink more water each day. This doesn't include drinking soft drinks, tea, coffee, tonic water, seltzer, or juice. We need to drink clean pure water. Now finding good water is harder to find than before. However, it is possible to find clean drinking water for a little as 4 cents a gallon right at your own home without going to the market to purchase a large gallon size of water which costs anywhere from $1.00 a gallon or more! If you can’t find good clean water inexpensively, call me.

Start drinking to good health. Drink at least 8 cups of water a day, and add more for each hour of strenuous activity.

Dr. Jeffrey Benton
