The Importance of Acupuncture

Acupuncture and the knowledge of the meridian system are thousands of years old.  Acupuncture and Chinese medicine has been around for centuries, and was only introduced into the United States after President Nixon visited China in the late 20th century.

The body has an energetic cycle. Chinese medical practitioners call this energetic system the body’s meridian system. There are 12 meridian channels in the body.  This energetic system runs on a 24 – hour cycle. Throughout the day, certain areas of the meridian system are activated. When there is a blockage in the meridian system (via physical or emotional trauma) the entire energetic system is imbalanced. This leads to dis-ease, and ill health.

Chinese medical practitioners are specifically schooled in evaluating and correcting these imbalances.  Because of their ability to evaluate the energy (or vitality) of the whole person, acupuncturists can assess and resolve the background to a problem.

Meridian therapy adds an important dimension in diagnosing and correcting dysfunction.
